1. CPAs Encouraging Business in California
There have been a growing number of legislative proposal that have a significant impact on California business; overtime policies, retirement programs, employment classification. Each policy brings uncertainty and compliance challenges business owners have to take on. I am in a unique position to educate policy makers how these proposal impact you so they can be pro small business as well when voting.
2. Sales Tax on Services (against it)
Accountants and attorneys are fighting to keep costs down on services you get from us. If Sales Tax on services passes, business owners, individual taxpayers, and others who rely on CPAs will see a 10% increase on fees. Sales tax on services has a negative impact on small business. It may mean you go outside the state for your services, robbing local business from supporting local businesses. I am against this proposal and it has been struck down for the last few years but does keep coming up.
3. 2018 Tax Reform; CA Legislative Proposals (SB 227 & AB 1864)
SB 277 - You may appreciate that SB 227 (De Leon) is out to give you a work around to the new 2018 tax law limiting state income tax deductions. He proposes we allow charitable contributions to count as our state income tax payment.
